A 21st Century Leadership Vision on Justice, Rights and Equity About the Program

The gathering will convene leaders from the Kellogg Fellows network and the Annie E. Casey Fellows to frame a new paradigm for how society talks about and approaches these dynamic issues.  Participants will have opportunities for innovation, coalition building and leadership capacity development. Small group discussions will relate to the theme of a 21st Century Leadership Vision on Justice, Rights and Equity, focusing on social policies and structural dimensions that affect families and communities.

The Jemez Pueblo

Participants will have a rare opportunity to explore the complex issues of community and identity through a visit to a feast day celebration at the Jemez Pueblo. The Pueblo only opens its doors once a year for this particular event and we are honored to have the opportunity to bring the Kellogg and Casey communities to share this special day with the Jemez community.

The November 12 Feast Day at Jemez Pueblo is in honor of the Pueblo's Patron Saint, San Diego.  Festivities will begin with a Roman Catholic Church at 9 am followed by a procession of the Saint into the Plaza to its shrine.  The Pueblo Corn Dances alternating between the Pumpkin and Turquoise groups will begin soon after.  The groups will alternate throughout the day; dances typically end near sundown.  There are lots of artists/and food vendors set up around the village.  Please wear comfortable walking shoes, you will find yourself walking and standing quite a bit.  Dress warmly because it's November and it might be snowing, but the dances go on.  This is one of few ceremonies that is open to the public.

Please no cameras or recording devices. They will be confiscated.

The November gathering will be held in collaboration with the Annie E. Casey Fellows, child and family service leaders working to create and sustain major system reforms that benefit children and families.

The goal of the discussions is to frame a new paradigm for how society talks about and approaches these dynamic issues.
