AWARD
Ray Gatchalian Spirit of Leadership Award

During Forum gatherings, we have chosen to honor leaders who are making a difference in our lives. If we are lucky, we have had the chance to cross paths with an exceptional leader: someone for whom helping others comes as naturally as breathing. Ray Gatchalian was such a leader. Ray spoke to nearly every class of Kellogg Fellows after the completion of his own Fellowship. His compassion, vision, courage, and unwavering spirit made him an exemplary leader. These same qualities are the criteria from which award recipients are chosen.
This year, the Ray Gatchalian “Spirit of Leadership” Award will be given to a Kellogg Fellow that is from Mexico, South or Central America, the Caribbean or to a Kellogg Fellow from other country that has a professional portfolio in these regions.
Criteria
Kellogg Fellows and Advisors are invited to nominate other Kellogg Fellows and Advisors who they feel embody the traits Ray exemplified:
- compassion
- courage
- a willingness to take risks
- motivation
- optimism
- the ability to get things done
- a passion to make a difference
AWARD
The individual selected to receive this award will obtain the airfare to attend the Latin American and Caribbean Forum and will join the previous recipients of this award; which were: Dr. Russell Mawby (Chairman Emeritus and Honorary Trustee, W.K.K.F), Dr. Deirdre Phillips (Medical Director, Health Systems of Mississippi), Mr. Bill Bolling (Executive Director, Atlanta Community Food Bank), Mr. Wilfred Cwikiel (Principal, Harbor Springs Middle School), and Ms. Shirley Sherrod (Consultant and National Speaker).
