In each Call to Action our Fellows and collaborators will tackle some of the hottest issues of the day
with innovative tactics aimed at breaking the constructs that dominate the framing of these issues
and taking us beyond discussions of the status quo.
- A Both/And Approach to Equity and Healing
October 14, 2012 | Detroit, Michigan.
This unique Call to Action will provide avenues for practitioners to share and practice techniques, best practices and innovations in a cross-cutting, multi-disciplinary and multi-racial setting. Together, we will explore: where are the opportunities to cross-pollinate our efforts? How are people doing healing, equity and justice work in community? How can we learn from each other?
This Call to Action program continues the KFLA series of Racial Equity programming, following on the 2010 program, A 21st Century Vision on Justice, Rights & Equity and the 2011 Initiative on Racial Equity and Community Healing: Catalyzing Community Level Action.

2011
- Initiative on Racial Equity and Community Healing: Catalyzing Community Level Action
April 11, 2011 | Nationwide
Kellogg Fellows and our collaborative partners continue to implement gatherings with their communities, workplaces, schools and families. Participants reported implementing lasting changes to curricula, forging systemic changes in hiring practices and building strong coalitions for justice across the country.
This Call to Action is about acting, reflecting, learning and dialoguing about race in a more holistic way. Many people are tired of just talking and just acting. Instead of talking the talk and walking the walk, let’s start walking the talk, because closing the gaps between people and changing the ways in which people think, live and interact move us closer to achieving equity.

Mobility, Global Migration & Human Rights
November 11-13, 2010 | Albuquerque, New Mexico
Ever increasing shifts in global patterns of migration present new challenges and opportunities for communities. Today, the U.S. and other countries face unique challenges compounded by the global economic crisis, a rising xenophobic tide (e.g., South Africa, Italy, U.S.), new patterns of urban and rural demographic and migration flows, and social and political unrest leading to an unprecedented wave of immigrants, refugees and internally displaced persons.
A team of national and international thought leaders are exploring potential solutions to address this 21st century phenomenon in a series of colloquium.
