Feedback from previous Forum events on the need for a results-driven project in Forum locations led to this exhibit. Using photography to give voice to and document the particular strengths and issues of indigenous Maya communities, FotoVoz worked with students from the Universidad Intercultural Maya de Quintana Roo and community leaders whose projects were funded by the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) small grants program. The FotoVoz pictures and commentary highlight the unique issues facing their home villages and give members of the community a tool to engage their local leaders in a dialogue to promote change and influence public policy.
